These Words are Free (redux)
This page refers to the interactive project taking place during this year's Mujeres, Mujeres, Mujeres exhibition at Raices Taller 222 Art Gallery and Workshop in Tucson, AZ
The work was conceived of as an extension of a previous project, 'True Poem flee;' These Words are free, which you can see if you'd like, by clicking the title.
In this current iteration, visitors to the gallery will find an arrangement comprised of a collaged box that contains a collection of small handmade papers. Each paper comes with its own glassine envelope.
Next to this box, there is jar that holds writing pens.
Visitors are asked to think of a word in any language that they might especially like. Maybe the word has a special association with a particular person, place or thing. Maybe it's the way it sounds or the way it feels to speak it.
Next, each person is invited to write their word of choice on one of the papers. The paper is now theirs to keep and can be placed in its envelope for safe keeping.
Before taking the paper home, though, each word-writer is also invited to kindly make a photo of their inscribed paper. And please then, give the word-image file a title such as: YourNameWord.jpg

Gallery visitors will also note a sign on the wall in proximity to the collaged box, papers, and pens arrangement. The sign explains the project much like this web page. And it also includes a QR code that can be used to bring them here, to this exact page.
The button here below links to a folder on my Proton drive, where gallery participants may upload their word photos.
At the end of each day for the duration of the exhibition, I will transfer the uploaded photos to this page.
In this way, everyone will be able to return here to see and read the words that everyone else chose.
And thank you all in advance for your participation in this project!
